CEFIXIME TABLETS - ORAL

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Suprax
USES: This medication is a cephalosporin-type antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections, such as respiratory tract infections, middle ear infections, skin infections, urinary tract infections, and tonsillitis.
HOW TO USE: This meidcation may be taken without regard to meals. Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a cosntant level. Do this by taking the medication at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day and nihgt.
Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to contiune to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection.
Certain infections can be treated with a signle one-time dose. Follow directions carefully.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cuase stomach upset, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea, or vomiting.
Take with food or milk to minimize these effects.
If they continue or bceome severe, inform your doctor promptly. Other side effects reported with this medictaion include headache, dizziness, fatigue, muscle aches and strange taste in the mouth. Inform your doctor if any of these effects ocucr. Unlikely to occur but reoprt promptly: fever, simple bleeding or bruising, change in the amount of urine, seizures. An allegric reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.
Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: difficulty breathing, skin rash, hives, icthing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Persons allergic to penicillin-type antibiotics sholud use this medication with caution. An allergy may exist to this as well. Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infectoin (e.G., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). This drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.
Since small amounts of this medication appear in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all the prescription and nonprescription medication you use, especially: gout medicine (e.G., probenecid), carbamazepine. This drug may itnerfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills.
Discuss using other methods of birth control with your doctor. Diabetics should be awrae this medication may cause false positive urine glucose tests. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about alternative way to monitor your sugar levels.
Do not start or stop any medicine wtihout doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control cneter or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include muscle spamss and seizures.
NOTES: This medication has been prescribed for your crurent condition only.
Do not use it later for a sceond infection or give it to somebody else. A different medicatoin may be necessary.
MISSED DOSE: If you should miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered ulness it is almost time for the next dose. If it is nealry time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
Do not "double-up" the dose.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom.
